Snow Day Announcement

Hello all,

As per the announcement from President Barchi, campus is closed today and thus our class is cancelled.

What this means for our schedule:

– Let’s push the entire syllabus one week. That means that we will have a discussion on copyright/PIPA & SOPA, a workshop on SnagIt and we’ll discuss screen-grabbing and frame analysis next week. The syllabus on our site is already updated.

– As I don’t want us to lose an entire week of work, I want you all to consider the following your weekly assignment:
Blog Assignment for Feb 19th at 5pm
Choose one of the resources listed under the post Frames & Screenshots and write a reaction to it:describe it for your readers (what is it? what kind of site is it?) and then respond to it (why did you choose it? why do you find it interesting? does it make you think of cinema in a new way? is it mostly creative or scholarly?) Be sure to embed an image or a video about your resource in your post. 250-500 words.

– In addition to this, I want everyone to read and comment on each other’s Twitter Review posts. Rather than comment on the content (“I like these movies!” “I don’t know any of these films!”) I want everyone to comment on the layout and visuals of the piece: Is the post easy to follow? Is it formatted well? What would you change/suggest to make it better/stronger/more appealing?

Stay indoors and warm through the storm. If you have any questions, be sure to send me an email and I will see you all next week,
